Let’s look at the SWOT analysis of last season’s finalists Dabang Delhi
Strengths:
Strong Raiding led by Naveen:
Naveen played a huge role in Dabang Delhi making their first ever finals. The young Services raider will once again be the key if Delhi are to repeat or better their last PKL performance. The 21-year-old will be supported by the experienced Ajay Thakur and quality all-rounder Vijay making it a well-rounded raiding unit.
Experienced Defence:
Dabang Delhi have the likes of Manjeet Chhillar, Joginder Narwal, Jeeva Kumar and Sandeep Narwal in their ranks. The capital outfit have assembled the most experienced defence in PKL history. If Delhi’s defence clicks, then opposition raiders will have a seriously tough time.
Weakness
Ageing defence
The likes of Manjeet Chhillar, Jeeva Kumar and Joginder Narwal all have undoubted quality; however, all are above 35 years of age and have not played much in the last 2 years. Moreover, they also have well documented injury history. Even Sandeep Narwal has struggled in the last 2 Senior nationals and was not his usual self for U Mumba. Delhi will hope that their experienced stalwarts shake off the rust and fitness issues.
Opportunities
Winning their first PKL trophy: Delhi for the first time in PKL 7 reached the finals, now the Krishan Hooda led outfit will have a chance to create history to win the title for the first time.
Threats:
Injury to Naveen:
Delhi’s raiding is hugely dependent on Naveen, if he suffers an injury then Delhi will have to rely on Ajay Thakur who struggled last season and Vijay who at best is a support raider. Delhi will hope that Naveen doesn’t suffer an injury.
Tamil Thalaivas MK II
Dabang Delhi have assembled a squad which is similar to the one that Tamil Thalaivas assembled in PKL 6 and 7 without any success. Delhi will hope that the big names perform according to their potential otherwise Delhi are likely to suffer the same fate as Tamil Thalaivas.
