We have a look at the SWOT analysis of Tamil Thalaivas

Strengths:

Variety in raiding led by Prapanjan and Manjeet:

Prapanjan

Tamil Thalaivas’s raiding will be led by youngster Manjeet and local boy Prapanjan. Manjeet especially impressed in the inter services tournament and also in the senior nationals. While Prapanjan has been steadily improving in the last 3 seasons. Add to it the likes of Athul M.S, Ajinkya Pawar and the promising Sourabh Patil and Bhavani Rajput, Thalaivas look to have their bases covered in raiding.  The likes of Manjeet and Prapanjan have the potential to emerge as lead raiders in PKL 8 after showing glimpses of their potential as support raiders.

Surjeet:

Surjeet Singh

Despite a below par season with Puneri Paltan in PKL 7, Surjeet still was the best right cover in PKL 7, scoring 63 tackle points, most by a cover defender, highlighting the difference in class between him and others. Thalaivas have struggled with their right cover position for the last 2 seasons and the experienced Services defender looks to be a perfect fit to solve their issues. If Surjeet gets going he can prove to be a scourge for many right raiders.

Weakness:

Inexperienced Defence

Apart from Surjeet Thalaivas defence contains the likes of Sagar who impressed in the limited opportunities he got last season scoring 22 tackle points at an impressive tackle strike rate of 55. Apart from him the Thalaivas NYP left corner Sahil Gulia was the top defender in the Inter University tournament, however, he lacks top level experience. While another NYP left cover Mohit Jakhar is also talented and was the top defender in the Haryana state championship playing against some of Haryana’s top raiders, but he also lacks top level experience. How the young Thalaivas defence copes in PKL 8 will be the big question mark and will also largely decide the fortunes of Tamil Thalaivas in PKL 8.

Opportunities:

Chance to reach the play-offs for the first time:

Tamil Thalaivas have the chance to make their mark in PKL and reach the play-offs for the first time ending the cycle of poor performances.

Threats:

The biggest threat and fear among the Thalaivas fans and supporters will be another season of struggle. In the last 2 seasons Thalaivas created strong teams but for some reason Thalaivas still struggled.  Ending the cycle of below par performances will be the biggest challenge for renowned coach Uday Kumar.
