Strengths

No of Matchwinners

Belgium have in their ranks a destructive forward line who if click are capable of destroying any defence. Lukaku is a man reborn in Italy while De Bruyne enjoyed another stellar campaign with Manchester City. If that’s not enough the opposition also has to contend with Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens and the tricky Yannick Carrasco. The emergence of Youri Tielemans gives the Red Devils more flexibility and quality in the midfield.

Weakness

Defensive Concerns

Belgium’s defence is not leaky, in fact they conceded the joint lowest 3 goals in Euro 2020

qualifying. However, the concern for Roberto Martinez is that Jan Vertonghen is 34 years now and does not have the mobility he once used to have. Alderweirld also had a mixed season, while Lyon’s Jason Denayer is yet to fully convince. Also, first choice defensive midfielder Alex Witsel is returning after a long-term injury and there are concerns, he may not be fully match fit.
