We look at the stat highlights of the recently concluded test series between New Zealand and India.

• India lost the test series 2-0 ending their unbeaten run and also continued their woeful record in New Zealand.

• It was 3^rd series defeat under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and the first whitewash under Kohli’s captaincy.
• It was 6^th consecutive Test match without win in New Zealand for India.

• Tom Latham became the 1^st New Zealand opening batsman to score fifty plus score in both the innings of a Test.
• 5^thtime India were bowled out below 150 in Tests in SENA (SA,ENG, NZ & AUS) countries since 2018 — the most by any team in these countries highlighting their batting woes in SENA countries and especially New-Zealand.

• Rishabh Pant struggled in New Zealand; it was 7^th consecutive innings without touching 30-run mark in Tests for the southpaw.

• While Trent Boult continued to flourish at home, it was23^rd 4-wicket haul for Boult in Tests — 5^th most for New Zealand in Tests.
• 15^th4-wicket haul for Boult in Tests in New Zealand —only Richard Hadlee (27) and Daniel Vettori (16) have more 4 wicket hauls than Trent Boult in Test cricket for New Zealand.

• Cheteshwar Pujara had a tough time against Trent Boult. Overall, it was the 4^th time Trent Boult has dismissed Pujara in Tests.

• Ajinkya Rahane normally a reliable away performer for India also struggled, it was also  4^th consecutive innings without scoring fifty by Rahane.
• It was also,4^th consecutive without scoring any fifty by Kohli in Tests.

o   Last time Kohli went 4 or more consecutive innings without any fifty was in 2017.

• Kohli’s Average of 9.50 in the series against New Zealand was the 2^nd lowest for Kohli in a Test series.

• Mayank Agarwal scored his 4^th Test fifty — all of them have come in away matches illustrating his consistency in away series.

• Ishant Sharma who was doubtful for the test series rose to the occasion and was a potent force in the series. He took another 5-wicket haul which was his 11^th five-wicket haul in Tests & 9^th in away Tests.
• It was the tall fast bowler’s 3^rd five-wicket haul in New Zealand.
• Ishant now has theJoint 2^nd most 5-wicket haul among Indian pacers in Tests.

• New Zealand became the first team to score 300+ against India breaking India’s streak of 9 consecutive innings of bowing out opposition for below 300.
• Tim Southee became the 1^st bowler to take 300 wickets in New Zealand in international cricket

• It was also the 10^th  5-wicket haul for Southee in Tests —
