Strengths
No of Match Winners
RR possess the likes of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler alongside Chris Morris and Jofra Archer. All of them have proved that if they get going, they can win the match on their own. They also have Sanju Samson, Rahul Tewatia and big hitter David Miller too in their ranks who have also proved their worth in the past.
Weakness
Bowling:
Apart from Archer (who will miss atleast 4 matches through injury) and Morris who is also injury prone, RR do not have quality bowlers in their line up who can take wickets regularly or stem the flow of runs.
Opening Issues
RR used the most opening pairs in IPL 2020 and their opening partnership had the lowest average in IPL 2020. RR also were one of the slowest teams in Powerplay of IPL 2020. It is still unclear what RR’s opening combo will be as they have a number of players who can open.
Opportunities
Shreyas Gopal to establish himself.
Shreyas Gopal despite his immense potential has struggled for consistency in IPL. With RR lacking quality tweaking alternatives, IPL 2021 offers Gopal a chance to prove that he is one of the top leg spinners in the country.
Threats
Pace Bowling Worries
Archer is coming on the back of an injury, while Morris has history of injuries, if one of them or both suffer from injuries then RR’s back up fast bowling will struggle massively.
